Despite a strong performance in the second quarter of 2018, Air Canada reported a pre-tax loss of $ 71 million. This loss is largely attributable to the $ 186 million write-off of the 25 Embraer E-190 aircraft that will be divested in the coming months. Air Canada is the second carrier to post a quarterly loss after JetBlue due to the devaluation of the E-190s.
