In its press release announcing the order for 60 A220, JetBlue mentions that moving from the E-190 to the A220-300 will save about 40% of fuel per seat available.

This is a lot, especially knowing that savings of the A220 can be of 20% compared to the A320CEO or B737NG. From JetBlue declaration, we candeduce that the fuel consumption of the E-190 is significantly higher than the aircraft of its generation which explains the eagerness of airlines to want to remove them from their fleet.

To give you an order of magnitude, 40% of fuel savings is what Air Transat will get by switching from A310s, which are over 25 years old, to the A321NEO-LR.
