At the official opening of the Maple Leaf Lounge in Saint John-Newfoundland, Air Canada announced that on Monday, December 17, it has transported its 50 millionth passenger in 2018, crossing the threshold of 50 million passengers for the first time in its history.

With the busy holiday season starting, an additional 2 to 3 million passengers are expected to board an Air Canada flight by the end of the year, which means it will have carried close to 10% more passengers than in 2017 when it reached 48.1 million.
